Email is one of the digital marketing strategies widely used for online marketing.

The amount of traffic your email can generate depends on how appealing it is to your recipients.

Today, in the business world where digital marketing is the trend, there is a need for you to write emails that are compelling in order to generate more reads and converts.

Here are vital tips that can help you write emails that convert.

Grab Their Attention With That Subject Line

One of the best ways to get people to open your emails is to have an irresistible subject line. So irresistible they just have to click on it!

The subject line of your email is what determines whether the recipient will open it or overlook it. Your subject line should be tailored in such a way that attention of your prospects or subscribers is captivated.

It should raise the curiosity of the recipient to know what the email says. Here are basic guidelines that can make your subject line irresistible.

* You should also avoid using languages that are promotional.

* Let your subject line be specific and useful so your prospective client can see the value.

* Try to use a topic that is timely and shows urgency.

Have A Good Preview Text

This is very important in generating more reads and converts from your email campaigns. The preview text is usually the set of text that is following the subject line in the inbox view page.

This feature gives the recipient an insight into the content of your email, and an insight into what you are offering.

It is one thing to get people to open your email with a strong subject line. But it’s quite another to guide them through the email without getting them bored.

A good preview text will compel the recipient to open the email and read its entire content.

As much as possible try to make sure that the subject line and the preview text are in correspondent to one another.

You should tailor your preview text in a way that it will make the recipient curious. It’s all about getting them to click it open.

So make sure you carefully craft your preview text so it can appear catchy to the reader. Softly, softly, catchy monkey!

Your Email Should Be Simple, Strong And Scannable

While you may want the content of your email to impress your recipients, it is important that you keep it simple and strong.

Avoid using words that are ambiguous or unnecessary jargons when developing the content of your email. They just bamboozle people and it turns them off.

This is because once the recipient opens your email you have limited time to win over his/her interest to read the entire content. Put yourself in their shoes; you know that if you get bored in the first three sentences, it’s delete, delete!

You can use simple words to deliver a powerful piece. However, it is important that you do not forget your goal of getting your recipient to finish the content of the mail while you are trying to keep it simple.

Consequently, when developing the content of your email, avoid having lengthy paragraphs that can wear out the interest of your reader.

Short and snappy is the name of the game. The use of breakups like punchy subheads, bullets and numbering and small notes will make your email scannable. These features will make the recipient to quickly read through the content and understand the message and what you are offering.

Get graphic! The use of the right images and graphics can help to deliver your message in a much more engaging way. Keeping the content of your email simple, strong and scannable, you stand the chance of retaining the interest of your recipient to go through the email.

Know Your Target Audience

Do you want your email to receive more reads and converts? Then you need to write to the right audience.

You should be able to identify your target audience so that you can craft your email marketing copy to meet their needs.

This will help increase the number of your converts tremendously.

Having your buyer persona generated from the information you have about your customers will help you to identify their needs and to write an email marketing copy that will appeal to them.

Have A Single Goal

You should have a goal for the email you want to write. How often do I say, ‘you need a plan Stan?’ This is the same deal. When you want to write an email, you should ask yourself the following questions:

*What type of email do you intend to write?

*What is the purpose of the email?

This may seem like stating the obvious, but you would be amazed the amount of people who don’t do this.

A clear cut answer for these questions will help you to establish your goal for the email. Having a goal will enable you to focus on the action you intend to get from your readers and to channel the content of your email to achieving that.

It’s important to have a single goal for each of your emails as you do not want to include multiple messages that will confuse your readers.

Optimize Your Call To Action

What better way can you generate converts with your email other than compelling them to take the desired action? That’s what it’s all about isn’t it? So they ultimately engage with you and your service or product.

This can be achieved through the use of the call to action strategy. What is that I hear you say? A call to action is simply an instruction that intimates to your reader the next step you want them to take.

When creating your call to action make use of action words (verbs) that conveys the right message to your prospective client.

Yep, English lessons were a long time ago for a lot of us so I got you on this. A verb is a ‘doing word’. So for example – ‘click on this link’, or ‘go to my FB page’ or ‘download my e-book’ or ‘sign up for my newsletter.’ Get it?

Your call to action should be conspicuous, legible and short. Most importantly, it should have a contrasting color to the rest of the email, that way it can easily be seen. Make it stand out!

You can use more than one call to action in email but they should not deviate from the goal.

Make Use Of Psychology In Your Strategy For Email Marketing

Making use of psychological terms that will elicit the desired response from your recipients is an ideal way to make your email to generate more reads and converts. This can be achieved by any one of the following:

*Creating a need for urgency: You know all about FOMO (fear of missing out) don’t you? All human beings get it. No one wants to be left behind in the current trend. Get your email readers thinking they are going to miss out big time if they don’t take advantage of what you have to offer.

This can be achieved by creating a time-limited offer or discount. That way you are indirectly telling your recipients to act fast or be left out. Adding a sense of urgency will cause your recipients to take the desired step immediately.

*Choice of color: Different colors have a given response they cause in people. This strategy can be utilized in your choice of color for your call to action as choosing the right color will elicit the right call of action.

So there you go! With the implementation of the above-mentioned tips, you are going to be well on your way to generating higher returns in your email campaigns. Hurrah! Now if you liked this post, then check out this one on some tried and tested copywriting techniques to get leads.
